About the event

In an emergency where student safety is in jeopardy, staff must respond decisively.   Knowledge is the key. Research has shown when individuals have knowledge, they are more confident in their ability. True emergencies are infrequent but when they do occur, staff must be prepared to respond efficiently and effectively.  This workshop will include the following:

  • Preparing and speak with students about what to do in an emergency

  • Creating ownership in the classroom and self-auditing the room for safety

  • Helping substitute employees prepare for an emergency

  • Preparing staff in how to prepare and respond when under stress

  • Preparing for and responding to an emergency outside the classroom
