This depth of expertise allows us to deliver tailored, effective safety solutions that protect students, empower staff, and foster resilient school communities.

Dr. CJ Huff

Director of Business Development

Dr. Huff began his career in education as an elementary teacher and principal before moving into district leadership, serving as Superintendent of Eldon R-1 Schools (2004–2008) where he revitalized a struggling district through accountability systems, strengthened community partnerships, and strategic planning that improved academics and operations. He then led Joplin Schools (2008–2015) through the aftermath of the 2011 tornado, overseeing rebuilding efforts that set new standards for safety and innovation, earning national recognition—including praise from FEMA—and raising graduation rates from 62% to 88%. Beyond education, as Co-Owner and Director of Business Development at HaloRRS, he forges strategic partnerships and secures millions in grants and federal aid to help disaster-impacted communities recover, advancing work at the intersection of education, crisis management, and community development.

Dennis Lewis

President

Dennis Lewis has spent his career strengthening safety and security in educational settings. As Director of School Public Safety and Risk Management for Springfield Public Schools, Missouri’s largest district, he oversaw security procedures for 54 sites serving more than 26,000 students and collaborated with educators and law enforcement to enhance prevention, planning, and preparedness. A recognized leader in the field, he is Past President of the National Association of School Safety and Law Enforcement Officers and co-author of NASSP’s Safety Tips for Principals. His expertise has also made him a respected consultant and expert defense witness in school safety litigation.

An accomplished author and trainer, Dennis has written nine school safety publications, including two national bestsellers, and more than 300 articles on safety, security, and risk management. For over 25 years, he has provided readiness assessments, professional development, and tailored consultation to schools seeking stronger safety plans. His practical teaching style and extensive experience have made him a trusted resource in Missouri and a sought-after national speaker whose work continues to shape modern approaches to school safety.

Judy Brunner

Chief Executive Officer

Judy Brunner is the co-founder of Edu-Safe and Instructional Solutions Group. With over 30 years in public and private education, she has served as a special education teacher, elementary principal, middle school principal, and high school principal. She currently serves as Clinical Faculty at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO in the Department of Literacy. Mrs. Brunner has been a featured speaker at local, state, and national conferences on the topics of school safety, prevention of bullying and harassment, classroom management, restorative practices, student accountability,literacy, and academic engagement.

 

Throughout her career, Judy has demonstrated a strong commitment to educational and community leadership. She served as President of both the Springfield Association of Middle School Principals and the Springfield Association of High School Principals, where she led initiatives to strengthen professional collaboration and improve student outcomes. As a member of the Mayor’s Council on Children and the Springfield School District Board of Education, she contributes to policy development focused on student welfare and educational equity. Her leadership extended into community engagement through active participation as a board member of Greater Springfield Area Crimestoppers.
